I’m Martin, a software engineer based in Austria.

I’ve been building for the web since the cgi-bin days, then moved through PHP and .NET in my first corporate job. It didn’t take long to realize that being a cog in a big enterprise wasn’t for me. I wanted to be my own boss. So I started my computer science degree and launched my freelancing business at the same time.

When mobile came along (Windows CE, Symbian, Java ME) I jumped in. When iOS arrived, I went deep and spent the next 15+ years on iOS and Android architecture, later moving into full-stack system design. I’ve shipped products and libraries used by millions, led teams, and learned along the way that the hardest problems are rarely just technical. That breadth still shapes how I think about systems today.

Building is what I love most. That hasn’t changed.

What I Do

By day, I’m a Staff+ Engineer at Meister, where I lead the work on how humans and AI agents build software together. I build agentic systems end to end: the infrastructure that lets agents take on real work, and the MCP servers that connect them to Meister’s products. Alongside that, I help teams work with them through agentic workflows that compound over time, workshops on system design and AI-assisted development, and conversations with leadership about where AI actually makes a difference.

I also run topmind GmbH, where I consult with teams on agentic systems and AI enablement.

I care about developer experience and architecture decisions that don’t haunt you later.

AI Engineering

AI changed how I work. Coding agents are part of my daily toolkit, whether I’m exploring an unfamiliar codebase or pair-programming on something complex, and building the systems around them has become most of my job.

I have zero patience for AI slop. The goal isn’t to just generate more stuff faster. It’s to think better and ship higher quality work. AI is a tool, not an excuse to stop caring about craft.

Beyond Code

Most importantly, I’m raising two curious humans, and they are everything to me.

Outside of work, I chase alpine passes on my road bike, do some strength training, and occasionally still climb. These days it’s less about performance and more about healthspan. 🖖 Live long and prosper.
